Local 46 participates annually to help with the Muscular Dystrophy Association - or MDA. During the week of the Jerry Lewis telethon Everett's firefighters were out on busy street corners taking donations for MDA in their empty fire boots. Everett Firefighters were able to raise over $13,000 in three days for the local chapter of the MDA.  Nationally, the International Association of Firefighters donated $1.2 million to the national MDA organization.
